How to Select Tiles Episode 6 : This session explains about Glazed Vitrified Tiles(GVT) and Polished Glazed Vitrified Tiles(PGVT). It is basically a vitrified tile topped with glaze. This layer enables any design printing on top. Hence, we get a lot of variety in Glazed Vitrified Tiles. Since, base of GVT is Vitrified Tile, the same strength of Vitrified Tiles can be expected. The major advantage of GVT is the variety in colors and print that traditional tiles like SST and Double Charge cannot provide. If the top surface is polished it is called PGVT(Polished Glazed Vitrified Tiles). Depending upon applications, different type of tiles is to be selected. For residential purposes, GVT is best suited. For heavy commercial uses, it is better to avoid GVT and go for Double Charge or Full Body tiles. However, a problem in GVT is that, since the print is there only in the top layer , in the vary rare case of chipping, the bottom body becomes visible. Some branded companies give Color body tiles, so that the color difference is not visible in case of Chipping.
