How to Select Tiles A series on "How to Select Tiles" for your home. This series has been started to explain the differences between Ceramic Tiles, Vitrified Tiles, Double Charge Tiles, Full Body Tiles, GVT Tiles etc. What type of tile has to be used where. Granite and Marbles flooring is covered in separate series. This session focuses on "History Of tiles" . Initially, Red oxide floorings had been used in our Ancestor home. However, this type flooring can develop pot holes which does not look good even after repair. Then , Mosaic floorings were introduced. The major advantage being ability to repolish. But even they had shortcomings as the wear and tear was high. The next stage in evolution was Ceramic tiles. Basically, they are stronger than all previous flooring because of their ceramic formation. A 6mm ceramic tiles was stronger than a 1 inch mosaics. Hence, ceramic tiles and vitrified tiles have come to rule the market. Next session is on Ceramic Tiles in Details. These session does not focus on Natural floorings like Marbles and Granites as they will be covered separately in the future.
