How To Select Tiles Episode 4- Vitrified Tiles- SST

Episode 4: This session details about Soluble Salt Technology (SST) variety of Vitrified tiles. There are 4 major varieties in Vitrified tiles 1. Soluble Salt Technology(SST) 2. Double Charge Tiles 3. Full Body Tiles 4. Glazed Vitrified tiles( GVT) with another variant called Polished Glazed Vitrified tiles(PGVT) This session covers about SST Tiles. Generally people tend to call this variety as Single Charge. There is no specific category called Single Charge, the name has been derived to differ from Double Charge Tiles. SST is the first generation Vitrified tiles. The tile is made up of Natural Clay colour with Prints made on top using Soluble Salts. The most cost effective tile is SST and best suited for Commercial Applications. Generally, SST tiles are stronger, Scratch Proof and Stain Proof . It is a single body tile. But the biggest problem with SST is, it is only available in Beige colour. Usually, Nano coating is also applied on top to fill the small pores that are left out even after vitrification. So nano coated tiles are more Stain resistant and Scratch resistant. It is better to use nano coated SST tiles. Only if varieties in colour are needed, the next category of tiles is used.
